Each library in the Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library System has computers available to the public a no charge that provide high-speed internet access. The computers also have Microsoft Office software, educational games, and reference material. The Blacksburg Library also provides wireless internet access for those who bring their own computers.
Library computer workstations may be reserved for a specific time
of day by telephoning the library. Reservations are
accepted only for the same day.
MFRL has a Computer Use Policy
and an Internet Safety Policy which all
computer users must comply with. MFRL filters internet content in compliance with
the Children’s Internet Protection Act. Adults may request that the filter be disabled.
Staff have only limited time to help computer users, but
periodically the library offers classes
for beginning computer users.
The Meadowbrook Library houses a computer lab that can be reserved
by community groups or organizations for their own training sessions. To find out
about the computer lab or to reserve the lab, call the
Meadowbrook Library.
