Fake Mustache

We read Fake Mustache by Tom Angleberger for our meeting last night.  While it is a great book, it is definitely a book that will appeal to some and not others.  I have to admit, I did not think the girls would be super into it.  Boy was I wrong!!  All of the girls, except for two, thought it was SO good.  Several of them said it was their favorite so far!!  The moms were not so wowed by the story but loved that their daughters were.  My personal opinion is that it would be a great book for readers who love to laugh and don’t take things too literally.  The female character in the book, Jodie O’Rodeo, is a strong character that actually narrates the last part of the story.  So we give it a big thumbs-up!

For activities, we created an outfit that could hypnotize the world; made mustaches out of felt, and worked on our memory books.  I introduced next month’s book and think I got them quite interested, and am sure it had nothing to do with the title: Pie but everything to do with my great booktalking skills, right?
