Tutors Needed in Shawsville/Elliston
Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley (LV-NRV) is seeking evening and daytime tutors and will hold basic literacy tutor training beginning Friday, February 19th, for volunteers who want to help Shawsville/Elliston adults with reading and writing.
LV-NRV trains volunteers to help low-literate adults develop basic literacy skills. The initial tutor training will consist of two sessions and will be held in the community room of the Meadowbrook Library; Friday evening February 19th and Saturday February 20th. Volunteers who complete the training will tutor for one to three hours per week at public confidential location convenient to both tutor and adult learner.
The deadline for registering for the class is Monday February 15th. Volunteers are asked to pay $25 to help cover the cost of training materials.
