The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau tells the story of Cia Vale, a citizen of the Five Lakes Colony, governed by the United Commonwealth. The Seven Stages War resulted in biological mutations and the destruction of much of Earth’s ecosystems. Resources are low, and many colonies are on the brink of starvation. Who will lead the tired souls of the Commonwealth to prosperity? The answer is found through the Testing.

Pathfinder by Orson Scott Card

Pathfinder by Orson Scott Card tells the story of Garden, an earth-like planet, and its occupants. This sci-fi story is interesting, but confusing at times.
Rigg, a teenage body, and Father travel in the North, trapping animals and selling their furs for their living. Rigg can see the paths that are left behind by every living creature, which helps him and his father find and trap animals. Strangely, Rigg’s father does not have a path.
