Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Information Page

With Virginia Executive Order #79, effective as on Friday May 28, 2021, most COVID-19 restrictions are no longer mandated in Virginia. Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library values the health and safety of the community and staff, and will operate in compliance with any remaining state and/or local restrictions.

Library Status

The library buildings are open to the public during our normal operating hours. Curbside Pickup service and Library Picks For You service remain available. We are no longer quarantining returned material.

MFRL is not assessing fines on overdue days from March 16, 2020 through June 30, 2021. Fines for overdue adult materials resume on July 1, 2021. Children’s items are always fine-free.

Face Coverings

Virginia no longer requires fully-vaccinated persons to wear masks or other face coverings in public. Each individual is responsible for wearing a mask/face covering if that is the right health decision for them. Library staff may use masks when providing assistance.

Disruptions in Services and Operations

Programs: Most in-person library programming has resumed. Some children’s programming will remain suspended until persons under 12 are eligible for vaccination. Please refer to the Library Calendar of Events for scheduled programming.

Community Room Use: Beginning June 1, all branches of MFRL will resume accepting bookings from groups for use of the Community Rooms. During June, requests to book the Community Rooms for June and July will be accepted. During July, requests to book the Community Rooms for July and August will be accepted. Please contact your library branch directly to book community rooms. Use of the Community Rooms must comply with all state and library regulations.
